Department Profile and History

The Department of Field Crops is located in the Ali Numan Kıraç campus of the Faculty of Agriculture of Eskişehir Osmangazi University. The Department of Field Crops at the Faculty of Agriculture of Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ), which was established in 1995, started education in 2002. The Department of Field Crops is the department that represents plant production in the broadest sense in Turkey. The department conducts research on agronomy, breeding, tissue culture and biotechnology in the fields of cereals and food legumes, industrial crops, meadows and pastures and forage crops, as well as plant ecology, sustainable agriculture, organic agriculture, biological diversity, protection of plant genetic resources and other subjects. The aim of the department is to conduct research in line with local, regional and universal values ​​by using science and technology; to raise creative, enterprising, cooperative and tolerant, productive individuals and to offer all these values ​​to the service of society. The department provides undergraduate and graduate education in the field of field crops. At the end of the graduate education, master's (thesis) and doctorate degrees are awarded.
